Application of the Mauri Model for geothermal energy development on multiple owned Maori land.

Much of Aotearoa’s geothermal resources are on land owned by more than one Maori group –‘multiple owned Maori land’. Having these groups work together is important to make to maximise the economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefits from geothermal energy development. This article shows how the Mauri Model can help groups ‘see into the future’ to better plan, and make more informed decisions. Several examples demonstrate the simplicity of the Mauri Model to get all parties ‘on the same page’.
